Founder and Executive Director, Rashid Littlejohn

Rashid Littlejohn is the founder and Executive Director of The Green Campaign (GCAMP) and premiere program Guns For Grants. This journey began in 2008, after Rashid attended a tree-planting event in Brownsville Brooklyn, which inspired him to create a small collective called GCAMP that began teaching young people about sustainability, environmental appreciation and community reinvestment. These efforts would lead to conducting workshops in NYC schools and communities as a Department of Education (DOE Vendor) and steward with New York Restoration Projects.

Looking to further his abilities and leadership in this sector, Rashid would serve a 10-month fellowship with Public Allies NY as a program assistant with Community Resource Exchange, increasing his knowledge and skillset on non-profit sustainability practices and the theory of change model to be added to GCAMP’s growth.

Shortly after graduating, Rashid took on a 7-year position as a Program Director in New York City Housing Authorities (NYCHA) communities centers to better serve the needs of youth and community in one of the most disenfranchised environments. Being in charge of programming, Rashid would define the core of GCAMP’s work of dynamic activities and prevention through early engagement, with the creation of My Playground, My Escape and Guns For Grants before his departure.

Finally officially incorporating The Green Campaign in 2023 as an official 501c3, Rashid say’s, GCAMP is in an acronym that stands for genuinely care about my planet, this care starts with people, by making a promise to provide pathways for their growth and enrichment, makes them better stewards for our planet.
